Feelings

“The body transmits to you the feelings you want.”

“The body no more dies than it can feel.”

“When you feel guilty, remember that the ego has violated the laws of Love, but you have not. The higher mind obeys only the laws of Love.”

The body teaches us concepts of disease and death…do not accept what it teaches you to “feel.”

How do we practice the Course in everyday life, away from our own controlled environment?

By watching our feelings.

Skydiving taught me to constantly keep my physical safety in check. First I had to orient myself to be parallel to the earth, then I had to stabilize, then check my ripcord, then orient myself, …all while constantly checking my altitude & balance, & others jumpers. I memorized a checklist because my life depended on it.

If you want to know what is going on in your mind, pay attention to what you are thinking, perceiving, feeling, and your reactions. If there is peace and a spirit of joining with others in a common goal, you know you have chosen the Holy Spirit as your Teacher. On the other hand, if you are feeling disquieted, that is the certain sign you have chosen the ego.

Whenever tempted to feel strongly about anything – good or bad – you have chosen the ego. Your reactions of judgment, anger, anticipation, anxiety, or concern show you have dropped Jesus’ hand and taken the ego’s instead. Keep the goal of forgiveness uppermost in our minds. The strength of God’s peace lies in its quietness & calm.

When you feel sad, know it comes from your mind’s thought of sadness, born of having chosen the ego over God. Then ask Jesus for help to change your mind so that you may take your part in God’s plan to save His Son from suffering and pain.

Ask Jesus’ help that we may see through his eyes allows us to overlook – look beyond – the superficial distinctions that would separate us from the purpose that makes us one. Your part is merely to apply what He has taught you to yourself, and He will do the rest.

Ideas leave not their source. Fill your heart with deep tranquility. What you extend heals you, and what you project hurts you. The only purpose worthy of your mind this world contains is that you pass it by.  Love is content, not form of any kind.

When we feel a release from the heaviness and strain of the judgments we have been holding onto, we have turned our minds from the ego & have joined our Internal Teacher.
